Hi, I'm Alex

Welcome to my portfolio and blog! Here you'll find brief summaries of some of my previous work projects and some writings (coming soon).

My Professional Journey

I've been working as a developer since 2013, in close collaboration with a wide variety of teams, including brand and product designers, product marketers, content editors, SEO specialists, and back-end engineers.

I am deeply committed to web performance and accessibility. My mission is to ensure that all people, regardless of their abilities, devices, or network speed, can access the resources online, and truly enjoy their user experience. I hope to create more than just optimal UX, but also delightful UX for all users.

My career is visualized at my interactive résumé page.

Outside of Work

I love to learn! Given that my professional work is so ephemeral and non-tactile, I have mostly gravitated towards physical crafts and practices in my learning adventures. In the last few years, I've taken the following courses:

  • Carpentry courses, and participated in the complete build of a Tiny House with an all-woman crew
  • A natural basketry apprenticeship over several seasons
  • A deer-hide tanning course (using donated hides)
  • A Restorative Yoga teacher training
  • A part-time B.S. in Mathematics at IU Online
Basketry.

Who I Am

My hobbies include many physical movement practices like yoga, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, ecstatic dance, and intuitive art. I also enjoy personal tea ceremony, the study of mathematics, gardening (which I am not very good at), and cooking with the seasons.

What I Value

I am at home in nature, in meditation, in expressive and structured movement, in honest conversation, in friendship, in compassion, and in kindness.

A ghost pipe plant! It is a mycorhyizal plant that appears very briefly in late summer.
